In keeping with its spirit of continuously innovating, Sublime Comporta decided to open its own beach restaurant - a meeting place where friends and families could get together surrounded by the area's breathtaking nature and enjoy a meal and a day at the beach with the quality of Sublime Comporta yet the simplicity aligned with the Comporta “attitude”.

Only 10 min away from Sublime Comporta Country Retreat & Spa, is located on one of Europe's most beautiful coast lines and one of the area’s most stunning beaches - Carvalhal beach.

Here, we find the new Sublime Comporta Beach Club. Think beach cabana with a contemporary, sophisticated twist yet still aligned with the Comporta “chilled” attitude. True to the spirit of Sublime Comporta, this unique space has floor to ceiling windows, ensuring nature is always present. “There were many elements brought in from Sublime Comporta so as to ensure a continuation of the brands personality and positioning” says Teresa Barros, Sublime Comporta’s Marketing and Communication Director. In this case however, the inspiration came from the sand dunes and the sea.

In this project, they united together with Independente, which is known for creating innovative and lively hubs that forge community between locals and travelers and created a new accommodation concept - the first "hotel within a hotel" - The Mateus Hotel occupies the upper two floors of  Independente Lisboa-Bica.   

Set in a beautifully renovated old "pensão" (a Portuguese precursor of hotels) in one of the liveliest neighborhoods of Lisbon, the hotel features 13 rooms, an quirky stairwell bar and the Mateus Penthouse, an intimate and creative studio which every Tuesday features The Stage is Always Set.  The event showcases the incredible array of talent which exists in Portugal while serving up exceptionally well-executed Portuguese tapas with a Japanese twist. The Penthouse can be used as a private apartment, an events space, or as a private Chef's Table.

Known for her tireless work on behalf of the underprivileged, she was also notorious for her exquisite tastes. Lisbon is a little bit like Maria Pia: paradox is in her nature. Playful, but somber. Mischievous, and serious. Lisbon loves luxury, but she keeps her feet on the ground. Lisbon holds tight to the past while grasping for her still-uncertain future. She honours the depth of her shadows, and she looks to the brilliance of the light. Maria Pia would have approved. Here in Maria Pia’s home, we celebrate her spirit by inviting some of the best visual artists and musicians in the country. We follow in her footsteps. We engaged with the art, music and food that - far from being an extravagant luxury or a superficial frill - actually allow us to engage our senses with the cultural richness of our own moment in history.

The Vision - Uniting Art, Nature, Environment and Education
The Objective - to bring visibility to Quinta do Pisão and to create moments which re-connect the individual with Nature. The work, is an integral part of an experiential path for the visitor and curated for the visually impaired.
Considered a case study on nature conservation, biodiversity and the development of responsible tourism, Quinta do Pisão is located north of Cascais, at the foot of the Sintra mountain range, and is part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It represents a natural landscape of great importance due to the diversity of the fauna and flora typical of this area, as well as the presence of ruins of cultural and architectural value..
Sofia Barros invites Will Beckers who specialises in creating site specific natural installations that explore our relationship with the natural world. Barros's choice took into account the fact that his works invites the public to interact and experience the artwork, involving the visitor and thus inspiring a reaction.

Today's Lisbon is thriving. The city is alive with buzz. Artists and musicians are finding a new voice. Old Lisbon meets new Lisbon is precisely what brings the city its charm. Amélie and Wolfgang moved here 8 years ago. Here they found a European city that still had authenticity, that still had the charm of the old world, that still had the “slow pace” that makes life interesting.

In 2011 they discovered a breath taking, patio lost beside one of the city’s main “temples” - The National Pantheon. This patio had all the history and richness of the city and was filled with lost treasures and secret spots. Here, there were several stunning buildings. One had been an old distillery. Here there were abandoned spirit bottles from an age gone by. These brought soul to the abandoned warehouse. The extraordinary energy of this magical place, with its stunning views, the patina of time, the mystery of the stories it had to tell, compelled them to want the space to be able to tell a new story, to sing a new song.

Being passionate about music and avid collectors of art, appreciating the community of incredible artists and musicians who live in Lisbon, they decided to bring new life to this place. It was then that La Distillerie Lisbon was born.
